TOM ROBERTSHAW
DRAWING COMPLEX STRUCTURES
TALK
Tuesday, 5 October, 6.30-8pm
£10
WORKSHOP
Wednesday, 3 November, 10am-4pm (1 hour lunchbreak)
£50
Talk Description
The point where conversations between engineers, architects and builders meet and how drawing plays a part in thinking through ideas and communicating them will be the starting point of the talk. Tom Robertshaw will give us an insight into engineers' approaches to problem solving and how drawing can crystallise ideas, alongside using our mind's eye.
Workshop Description
As a professional engineer, one needs to turn ideas into tangible reality considering amongst other things, the materials, the available technology, and the craftsmanship and trades available to work with. This workshop will turn a concept into sketches and drawings which will be a step into realising how it could actually be constructed, thinking it through like an engineer.
